For 45 years, Adams Morgan Day has been a family-friendly celebration with music, art and activities for all ages. Adams Morgan Day is planned entirely by volunteers, and as Washington, DC’s longest running neighborhood festival, We welcome residents and visitors alike to meet our neighborhood businesses, artists, and service organizations.

We are elated to be coming back to an ALL in-person festival on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Festival Director: Cheryl “Cee-Cee” Hardy

Born and raised in Washington, DC, it’s hard to put a label on Cheryl “Cee-Cee” Hardy’s involvement with the many activities around the DMV.  Cheryl has served as the Deputy Festival Operator for the Adams Morgan Day Festival, as well as served as the Stage Manager and MC for the Dance Plaza, an international, interactive dance stage, for several years.  She has also worked in various capacities for the festival, such as Volunteer Manager, Public Relations Liaison as well as Outreach and Marketing Manager.  Cheryl, with her dedication and willingness to assist in any capacity, also worked with the Taste of DC as the Volunteer Coordinator and the Media Relations contact.  Cheryl has a love for the community and people and also coordinates large-scale events for the Federal Government which promotes diversity, inclusion, and community involvement.  Cheryl continuously promotes partnerships with local programs around the city to help others transition back into the community, thru volunteering.  For more info on the Dance Plaza, please visit https://www.facebook.com/danceplaza.adams.morgan or email admo.danceplaza@gmail.com.

Melodies at Kalorama (moved to Moonlight DC)

Live music will resound from the stage at Moonlight DC as we present “Melodies at Kalorama” hosted by DJ Qhill, https://www.qhillbeats.com  Sit back, relax, and take in the smooth tunes by some of our local performers. There will also be a Soulful House Session hosted by DJ Divine with a special tribute to DJ Sam “The Man” Burns, who was instrumental in incorporating House music in the Adams Morgan area.

Dance Plaza at Moonlight DC 2327 18th Street, NW

Sit back, relax, and let our hostess, Cheryl “Cee-Cee” Hardy take you on an international journey of dance, fashion, and culture. This interactive platform is where you will experience an explosive lineup of dance groups that will perform and teach basic dance moves, allowing the audience to join along.

DJ Slomo has mesmerized listeners in and outside of the area for more than 20 years. Starting his career as a DJ for family outings, holiday parties, cookouts and weddings, inspired him to take his skills to the next level. DJ Slomo then moved to larger venues such as Club U Turn, La Fountaine Bleu, Safari Steak House, Glenarden Gold Room, Knights of Columbus and PTO Community Day festivities, to name a few. His playing style attracts young and old alike. DJ Slomo is not your average DJ, as he plays to please the crowd. His various styles of music includes, R&B, Reggae, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Go-Go and any other style preferred. In 2008, DJ Slomo also started his production company, DcO Productions, which specializes in studio recordings, providing sound for events in and outside of the metropolitan area as well as assisting other DJs. As a renowned percussionist, DJ Slomo has also collaborated with many Go-Go artists in the metropolitan area as well as being featured on various tracks. The Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers are a group of tremendously talented artists that grew out of the cultural experience demonstrated at Malcolm X Park and is founded by Doc Powell. Drummers from all walks of life, and from every level of drumming abilities, other musicians of all varieties, and spectators of all nationalities and ages, come together and create a wonderful expression of creative energies. From this setting, arose a group of performing artists called the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers.

American University’s Humanities Truck will highlight stories and photographs from Adams Morgan history, including:

  • New Thing Art and Architecture Center
    A display about this Adams Morgan education center founded by Topper Carew in 1966, and a panel discussion with former students Vernon and Perry Suggs at 1:00pm

    An exhibit of photographs of Adams Morgan past and present by local photographers Tracy Meehleib, Shedrick Pelt, and Nancy Shia
